Godwin Heights is considering a November 2025 Bond to address the need to update and modernize our learning spaces. Many of our classrooms, science labs, and common areas were designed decades ago and no longer meet the needs of today’s learners. Modern classrooms must be flexible, technology-rich environments that support collaboration, hands-on learning, and real-world problem solving.

This bond would allow us to renovate and redesign learning spaces across all grade levels—from Early Childhood through High School—so that students have access to environments that reflect current best practices in education. Updated spaces will better support small-group work, project-based learning, and integration of new technology, while also creating welcoming, student-centered environments.

Ultimately, this bond is about giving our students the tools and spaces they need to succeed in today’s world and preparing them for the opportunities of tomorrow.

The 2025 Bond focuses on three core themes: safety and security, updating learning spaces, and district-wide improvements.

Potential projects include:

• Safety & Security: The bond would fund the relocation of the main office and athletics entrance at the high school to provide secure entry points. It would also relocate the office and create a new secure entrance at the Early Childhood Center. Additional upgrades include enhancements to camera systems, improved lighting, and traffic flow updates around school facilities.

• Learning Spaces: Renovating classrooms across all schools, including Early Childhood through High School, to create modern, flexible environments. This also includes updated science labs at the high school, new classroom furniture, and the integration of current technology to support collaboration and student learning.
  
  
• District-Wide Improvements: Upgrades to heating, cooling, and ventilation systems to ensure safe and comfortable learning environments, roof restoration projects, and general facility updates to extend the life of our buildings.
  
  

Together, these projects will ensure that Godwin Heights students and staff have safe, modern, and functional spaces to learn and grow—without increasing the current tax rate for district property owner

Election day is Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Absentee ballots are available in Michigan starting on Thursday, September 25. Polls will be open on election day, Tuesday, November 4, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.    

Voter-approved bond funds can be spent on constructing new buildings and facilities, constructing additions to buildings, remodeling, site improvements, athletic facilities, playgrounds, furnishings, equipment, school buses, instructional technology and other capital projects. 

Bond funds cannot be used for operational expenses such as employee salaries and benefits, school supplies and textbooks.
