2017-2018 Kent County Common Calendar

The Kent County Intermediate School District, with the support of the local districts, applied for a pre-Labor Day start date waiver from the Michigan Department of Education. Aligning concurrent and early college programming, the athletic calendar, band practice/camp, etc. is in the best interest of our students. Recently, we were informed that the MDE approved the waiver for the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years that will allow districts in Kent County to start school prior to Labor Day. Godwin Heights is working on the calendar for the 2017-2018 school year but wanted to communicate at least the start date to our families for planning purposes. For the 2017-2018 school year, the first day of school for students will be Monday, August 21, 2017.
